The COVID-19 vaccines are currently accessible to millions. Yet, so many people will not get vaccinated, and one comedian has had enough! Chris Rock slams anti-vaxxers and Kyrie Irving during his latest show. During his appearance at Brooklyn Steel, Chris Rock let people know how he truly felt about those refusing the vaccine.
I haven’t seen any shows since COVID. Has anybody been like, ‘Throw your mask in the air, and wave it like you just don’t care?’ Where’s my anti-vaxxers at? Where you at? You f—ing dumb Kyrie motherf—ers.
Rock has always fully supported the vaccine and uses his platform to encourage others to get vaccinated. In addition, the “Everybody Hates Chris” creator contracted COVID-19 back in September and explained how no one would want it. He has promoted COVID testing, masks, and social distancing; therefore, his comments about Irving aren’t shocking! Not to mention made sure he used his “star status” to get him to the front of the line back in May for his vaccination.
It is no secret that Irving is in hot water with his basketball team, the Brooklyn Nets. The point guard refuses to abide by New York City’s vaccine mandate for professional athletes. As a result, he cannot play or practice with his team and will miss millions. So far, the basketball star has missed ten games with his team. Irving went to IG live to explain his stance:
It’s not being anti-vax. It’s about what feels good to me. I’m feeling uncertain … and that’s OK. I know the consequences of the decision I make with my life. … It’s crazy times that we’re in. I haven’t hurt anybody. I haven’t committed a crime. If you choose to get the vaccine, I support you. Do what’s best for you. I continue to pray for all those out there who have lost people to the pandemic to COVID.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs. And I respect Chris Rock for using his platform to educate people about the COVID-19 vaccinations. But was he wrong for calling Irving out of his name? Comment with your thoughts below!
